Students who have been Depressed: 8th Graders

County: Jackson
Measurement Period: 2020
This indicator shows the percentage of 8th grade students who felt so sad or hopeless every day for two or more consecutive weeks that they stopped doing some usual activities.

Why is this important?

The adolescent years are often marked by new and volatile emotions that may be difficult for teens to understand. Aside from normal emotional changes, teens may also face depression and other mental and emotional imbalances. Although depression is highly treatable, many depressed teens do not seek or receive help. Unaddressed emotional problems can lead to problems at home and school, eating disorders, risky sexual behavior, drug abuse, or causing harm to self or others.
