11th Grade Students with at least 60 minutes of Physical Activity: Past 7 Days

Select a County
Measurement Period: 2020
This indicator shows percentage of 11th graders who participated in 60 minutes of activity every day for seven days prior to the survey.

Why is this important?

Inactivity during adolescence increases the likelihood of being inactive as an adult. Adults who are less active are at greater risk of dying of heart disease and developing diabetes, colon cancer, and high blood pressure. Participation in all types of physical activity declines drastically with both age and grade in school. Being physically active helps build and maintain healthy bones, muscles, and joints. In addition, exercise helps control and maintain weight, reduce fat, prevent or delay the development of high blood pressure, and promote psychological well-being. Moderate amounts of physical activity are recommended for people of all ages.
